Monday Nights at Memories

Now on my 3rd year at the booth of Monday night swings, along with Minn Vo, Paul Almazan and many others who have helped along the way we are putting togetther an awesome year for Monday nights in 2008. Fasten your setbelts and come along to enjoy the ride!

A little about me.

I grew up in Burbank California, in a home where music of all genres was always appreciated. At age 13 I started taking music lessons. My love for music grew in many directions as I studied Classical, Jazz, Big Band and Swing music creating a bigger appreciation for multiple genres of music.

I was introduced to Swing dancing in 2003, my favorite music is from Bobby Darin, Cab Calloway and Frank Sinatra. I have been DJ’ing since 1996 and Sound engineering since 2004 after learning at the Institute of Arts and Multimedia in Los Angeles. Currently I am the Resident Sound Engineer and DJ at MEMORIES in Uptown Whittier California where I play every Monday and 2nd Friday nights and have worked with bands like Phat Cat Swinger, Steve Lucky and The Rhumba Bums, Pete Jacob's Wartime Radio, Big Sandy and His Fly Rite Boys, Pep Torres, The Fabulous Esquires, Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five, the LA Lindy Exchange and many more.

I have also worked with Midtown Stomp at The Sacramento Lindy Exchange and Sacramento Savoy Nights with Frankie Manning, DJ’ing and working the sound board with Barbara Morrison and the S.F. All-Star Swing Band, Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, and just recently at The Vegas Exchange where I received 1st place at the VX DJ battle and the latest, Maxwell DeMIlle's Cicada Club.

Monday Nights at Memories

First, I must start off by saying that music is definitely the way into this gal's soul! Second, I'm the jack and coke (hold the coke) drinking, t-shirt and jeans wearing, living life to the fullest, no regrets, badass blues loving kinda person. I dig the beach, the mountains, the desert, and the good ole missouri plains that I once called home. I'm into old school artists and philosophers because they're the ones who really had things right. Some say that I was born in the wrong century and I don't disagree. What I will agree on is that I don't think a lot of people are ready to hear what I really have to say.

MC at Memories Monday Nights

A native of Echo Park, Paul grew up in a home where music was of much importance. At four he discovered his passion for creating music when he took his first piano lesson. His love for music grew in many directions as he studied various instruments creating an eclectic appreciation for multiple genres of music. From classical to punk, blue grass to metal Paul found beauty and cause for each and all in between. Paul was introduced to swing in 1998 at the Derby in Los Feliz where he first learned to dance and appreciate the lindy hop. He has a special love for Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and Cab Calloway. Paul also enjoys swing dancing to electronica, hip hop, and all music that grooves.
